Temp Fence

Today I had to waste a bunch of time and effort to put up a temporary fence between the hay field and the yard area where the new house is going to go. If we ever get everything worked out that is. One snag after another pretty much killed the prospects of getting the ball rolling this Summer as I had planned and my Mother is really wanting to turn those useless nags out into the hayfield for the Winter. Of course she also wants to get those bales put away and fill the barn with sheep for breeding as well and everybody else is going to do all the work by Golly. Not like she can do any of it.

So I spent the day putting in the t-posts for the temporary electric fence. Only about 2/3rds of it is temporary the other third I plan on finishing up tomorrow with a new gate behind the barn. It's the part up by the proposed house area I am unsure about. Regardless that section will have to be taken down once we start on the septic system and drive way so I will have to adjust the entire thing come Spring. I also want to do the permanent fence in alternating t-posts and wooden posts.

Fifty t-posts pounded in by hand later I am now ready to finish the thing up tomorrow and run the wire along with hooking up a solar charger to it. We will see how the entire thing works out I guess.

Luckily it was a pretty nice day for this type of activity and no brush busting was required for the job. The bees were sure cussing my smaller openings this afternoon to be sure. Each time I checked on them there were some huge traffic jams at the small entrances. Oh well one day it's 30 degrees the next 70 what do they expect?

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!

  1. A wise man said, "Better to have temp. fence first, then permanent fence" Sounds like a good plan. We had temps today near 50. A good day here.

    1. Rob - Ya I will have to tear the fence down to get the building done but at least part of it will be permanent.

  2. Driving those t-posts will make those shoulders protest the next day won't it?

    1. SD - Surprisingly mine feel pretty good today. Cutting wood after a few months off did me in more.

  3. PP,

Just wait, when you go to get out of bed in the morning you'll be feeling all the t-post pounding you did today.
I hope you get all this posted off as you like before the weather changes.

  4. Putting up fences can really be a pain sometimes. If you want it to be sturdy you've got to put in more effort. I'm going to have my husband go out this weekend and put up a new fence around my garden.
