The economic news as usual is all over the place but as this thing continues anyone who keeps reading here realizes I just don't even try and figure it out anymore. The news reports conflict from one story to the next and regional out comes conflict with each other too. All I can really say is my neck of the woods is totally different from what it was a few years ago but also this week things seem to be slowing down and changing around here as well. What I notice this week maybe completely different again next week but I can say things do seem different this week yet again.
For one thing I have had more time to observe what is going around me this week than I have had since I cannot even remember when. Here it is Thursday and I have gotten a total of only 6 vehicles in so fart for the entire week. The last time I have seen work like this was back right when the Covid Scamdemic was first getting started when I had almost the first three months off and just used like 5 years of vacation pay while I sat here at home and complained that I couldn't even buy materials to take advantage.
Of the six vehicles I got in this week four of them came from some transport company that I have never seen before and I just found em dropped off from the middle of the night. Two of them I found this morning and did have a paper trail and warning email from a company that dropped a few loads off for us about 4 years ago.
Four Years ago. The only reason I found a paper trail is I just so happen to still have access to the warranty clerks work email from that time. I still talk to her every so often too as she was a great person and we still talk but the company that dropped these vehicles off only has her old email to notify us of pending deliveries.
So I may not be a major loop player or something like that but what does that tell us about the state of the shipping industry that we are now forced to get deliveries from companies that would be unheard of to a person that hasn't been in the same position for half a decade or more? Suddenly all these rumors I been hearing this week about transport companies folding left and right begins to make sense to me and come together.
By 10 or so this morning I was in the parking lot talking to another old coworker that I haven't seen in a few years. Among other things he was complaining about how he is now finally able to take legal action against some tenants (in another State) who have not paid him rent in years. This guy was claiming he had lost literally thousands of dollars over the last couple years as tenants just refuse to pay their bills. How bad has this gotten? We have had three plus years now or free money, cheap credit and payment free bills and now it is coming to an end.
On my way home in the middle of yet another gully washer of a quick fast moving storm and blissfully light traffic I noticed that the local area shops hadn't been completely looted as usual and even saw a couple of dudes putting up fliers looking for side construction work. I hope this continues as I sure have some jobs I would love to hire people looking for work to do. I was actually able to then pick up a hamburger from one of the local places too. I stood there in awe after I paid for the thing waiting for a comet to come crashing down out of the sky.
Again I am not sure if this will continue but something seems to have shifted recently.
Keep Prepping Everyone!!!
"shifted recently"- it seems shifted suddenly here. everything seems to be suddenly empty of patrons. though "now hiring" is still a thing. idk what the hell is going on.
ReplyDeleteriver - I hear ya. I have been fooled so many times with temporary slowdowns that then bounce back the next week or so I am reluctant to declare it permanent so quickly. Although it sure looks that way,
