Gold Bugs, Silver Slugs and the End of the Month

 

I actually had another post topic planned for today but changed my mind. I got around to watching the first season of "The Last of US" and was so disappointed by yet another cringe woke show that I had to say something but I forgot that today was actually almost the end of the month and all that brings with it. After a day like I had at work today complaining about wokeness in entertainment just seems like too much for even my fortitude to take. Perhaps tomorrow.

As usual the transport company(s) began sending in the misfits and forgotten dregs they had cluttering up some lot somewhere to me in the middle of the night. By 7 Am I had a load of almost completely out of gas F-150's (haven't seen those in a couple of weeks) which included an old 22 model that has been sitting on some lot gathering dust since at least July of last year. It had been sold but the buyer declined the sale around November as near as I can tell and so I guess it got moved to the back of the chip waiting list and finally got one here this last week. After someone had removed the hard keys and keyless entry card anyway.

Luckily we can get that information if we happen to have a certified tech with a special laptop to run the software.  I could do it up until about 2018 but I am now too much of a security risk for that. So I had one of my techs do it :) I was actually surprised that the 2022 hard keys are in stock so there is no wait if someone walks up to buy this dusty gem this evening. Last I heard they had screwed up so much that there was a 6 month wait minimum to straighten those old 22's out but I guess not anymore.

Actually I had to go into last years files to find the paperwork and it was the second to last hold out so I should not have anymore 22's showing up out of the blue now. Of course I found myself daydreaming a little and wonder how many more of these old chipless 22's are to be found as this Summer goes on too.

I also found another vehicle that is sold and of course came in without it's hard keys or Keycard as well but those items for that model are on back order and last I heard the sales managers were busy contacting other properties in our group hoping to find what they need to deliver said vehicle  before Friday.  I told em I couldn't help em this time cause all the extra  stuff I have found over the last couple years have been gone for months. I used to have a whole drawer full of extra uncut hard keys that are pretty much universal for the only FoB type we have been using since 2016 but they did not survive the great confusion of 2022 that is for sure.

After screwing around with the old data trail I was just about to call it a day as I had everything caught up and inputed, when another transport pulled in out of the blue and dropped off a brand new Expedition and F-350. The Expedition was so new in fact we had no paperwork on it but of course there was some excited customer already waiting for that 350.  Sure enough the Saleman and Sales manager came wandering up in my parking lot exclaiming that the customer was without a truck waiting on this one and I had to get it ready for tonight.

I told em I didn't care.

Then of course being the pushover I am went in and typed up the paperwork on the Expedition and got the F-350 and everything ready to go. Asked my most reliable tech to get it ready and then dropped the packet off to the back office for them to do their thing with before sending it to finance. 

I also told the back office that the salesman had already left for the day and said his customer wasn't expecting  the truck until tomorrow night anyway. I can't wait to hear the fall out of that scenario tomorrow when I get in :) I owed that salesman one too. The sales manager knows me entirely too well to fall for that little fib plus I showed him how to bypass that step years ago if needed anyway but I bet that salesman got the point and will remember it.

So it is Wednesday night tonight and I have two to three more days of EoM madness to look forward too. So far I am clear right now but I would lay a sizeable bet that won't hold until 2AM.
