Been a Long Busy Day
Sorry I didn't get to the Sunday Reading Post as usual. We had a perfect Fall day with highs in to the 70's I think and I was rushing around trying to get many things done. Ran into a bit of an issue trying to get the brush hog hooked up to the Ford as the drive shaft was too long and nothing seemed to make it fit. We finally got it hooked up but I had to back the tractor up and slide the drive shaft on first rather than last like I prefer.
Anyway it was a long day and I am just getting inside long after dark and I smell like grease. I also ruined another shirt as usual. I hate grease.
Going to go make the rounds and catch up on things. I may make the Sunday post tomorrow if I collapse early tonight which is looking pretty much like a sure thing right now. I am beat.
Keep Prepping Everyone!!!

It was real windy here. A guy is giving me a Case sickle mower so I will have to figure how to hook that up on my Ferguson, making things fit. Of course the rich boys just buy a new tractor and attachments.
ReplyDeleteSomething ate my comments. Interesting. I will be interested in seeing how you hook that up if it is a belly mower since the Fergusons are the same as the Fords basically.
DeleteMake hay while the sun is shining!
ReplyDeleteHeh :)
DeleteSee what I did there?
PP I'm assuming there is an adapter on the tractor pto that is not letting you hook up like you want. The adapter makes the tractor pto slined shaft bigger to fit modern impliments but it also makes it longer. Irregardless of what the problem is the pto shaft on the brush hog (driveline)can be cut shorter so it can be hooked up last after the hog has been hung on the tractor.. Not that big of a deal to cut it shorter. Got sway bars to keep the brush hog from going side to side when using it?
ReplyDeleteDirt Dobber
DD - Actually the problem was that no matter how much I cut off either side of the shaft it wasn't shortening it overall. It's suppose to even itself out but I have seen the same scenario unfold on almost the same type of shaft before on a tiller we have.
DeleteI finally managed to get it hooked up by hooking the PTO shaft up first but that it not something I want to do regularly on this 8N where the PTO must be running to raise and lower the hydraulics.
This is actually our third brush hog but the other two are six footers. I have all the implements I need for our 60+ HP tractors what I am doing now is trying to switch everything to the 18 HP Ford.
Cold here overnight temps mid teens. Yes we love MN.
ReplyDeleteDawn dish soap cuts grease. Try it before you wash. Careful so it doesn't foam the washer, rise before you toss in washer.
Rob - Ya I used Dawn as a matter of fact. I still hate axle grease. The smell, it get's everywhere and always ruins whatever I am wearing without fail.
DeleteMy transaction still says processing. What ya wanna bet they don't count tomorrow as a business day either.
PP - if you are anyone here has a way to get a hold of Rob in His Bunker by phone, lt him know a donation has been made to his paypal. enough to handle things. He said he's just hitting the internet once a week and I wanted him to know the money and a little extra is in there. Thanks for spreading the word, I just read about it this morning.
