And this is why I tell you to be East of Colorado when the SHTF

If your area does not get enough rainfall or naturally occurring ground water then MOVE. Seriously.

NM Ranch had 1000 Emaciated Cattle

Taken from the above article. 1000 head of cattle on 180,000 acres.

180 THOUSAND Acres!!! and the cattle starved to death? Excuse me? If you cannot leave 1000 head of cattle to roam free and graze on 180 Thousand acres without them starving how can you ever expect that area to remain habitable in the case of a collapse? People would be killing each other for water inside of a day.

You wouldn't even get to food looting.

I bet if I turned 1000 cattle out on 180,000 acres around here in a couple years I would have 5000 head of wild cattle. OK really I am sure other things would do them in but it wouldn't be starvation on 180,000 acres of land I can assure you that.

Now of course maybe I do not know the entire story. Perhaps they had the acreage paddocked into segments (more than likely) or there was some other issue. But still....

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!

  1. I had a post a while ago (Drifting to a High Plains washout) and I think that is the area you are talking about. I think Nebraska is the are that is most covered by the High Plains (which I previously thought was just a cool movie title: aka High Plains Drifter), but it extends down into Texas.

    1. Russ - Well depending on what portion of NM it could be on the other side of the divide as well. Or far enough South that it makes no difference.
