Sunday Reading - Errrrr Viewing!!! - Making Hay the 60's Way

It's cooled down quite a bit but Friday and Saturday we got about another half foot of rain around here so we are once again drying out. Of course this means that as soon as the dew dries up I will be out mowing the explosive grass growth as usual.

I have a bit of breathing room now waiting for my next window of opportunity to get the other half of the big hay field baled and we should get at least one more cutting off the front field with this newest rain.

As promised here is a short video of the Ford 861 Diesel running the 532 Baler sucking up the cut hay and throwing the bales out the back.

Next time I shoot a video I will be sure the phone is turned sideways.

Now maybe I will be able to do a little work with the bee hives and get a final Fall honey pull out of the way this week.

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!!!!

  1. I feel your pain, I cut my grass for the first time in 3 weeks, I left the baggier off, and I looked like the swamp thing below the knees...My shoes will never be white again.
    Leaves are starting to turn.

  2. Could do with some 'explosive grass growth' here....even an inch or two of growth will do, the long hot rainless summer having left us with no grazing at all out on the fields.

    1. Vera - Ya I hate all this rain but droughts are much worse in the end even if over rain cost more in the short term.

  3. The baler does a nice job. We had rain yesterday - 10 drops, I counted them. But with all the hay you're getting the sheep will be happy and the chickens will have more spots to hide their eggs this winter.

    Thanks for posting the video!

  4. I've got to mow today, too. I don't much care for explosive grass growth!
