What a rainy, cloudy nasty day. At least it wasn't very cold I can say that. I got the last touches of the new fence section finished up today. Managed to integrate it into the old fence line between the hay field and useless old nag pasture then closed up a temporary hole where the other side will become the East part of the ram's paddock. Finally I attached it to the out building so that complete run is finished. Now all I have to do is run the nags out of the hay field and put up a temporary fence after I put the ram into the barn before shearing day.
The next step in the fence project from hell is to make a final decision on how the main gate area is going to come together. I will have three gates all in close proximity. One for a breezeway to allow me to run the sheep from the barn lot to the East pasture. The main gate to the horse pasture and then the gate to the East sheep pasture itself. This all has to coordinate and also facilitate the water troughs as well as the entrance to the out building.
Anyway putting the finishing touches on the fence section took pretty much all day and I didn't bring the camera with me cause I was afraid it was going to rain at any minute. We got about an inch of rain over night so I was slogging around in mud all day as well.
After evening feeding was done I took a little stroll around to check out the fruit trees and found the first Apricot bloom of the year. The Peach are about to pop open now as well and the Plum don't seem to be too far behind. The Apple and Redbud trees appear to be lagging somewhat this year though but the Maples should be out before the week is done I think.
Looks like I better start thinking about putting out my swarm traps soon I guess.
Keep Prepping Everyone!!!!!!
