Hitting a Big Snag on the Tractor Rebuild
So things were going a little too smoothly I guess on the tractor re-build. We found a new Crank, Cam, Lifters, oil pump, clutch almost everything.
The new front sheet metal is ready to be painted, been repainting other parts as we put her together. Even found a new brush guard for her.
Then everything came to a screeching halt.
This is the culprit. It's a balancer assembly for the crank shaft. Supposedly if you don't run this tractor with the balancer in place it will eventually break the crankshaft. Interestingly enough she didn't have balancer gears in her when we broke her apart. The problem is the only balancer assembly I seem to be able to find doesn't have the four holes in the corners. I even contacted a parts house in Canada that had two assemblies with the exact same casting number and had them visually verify those did not have the four holes either.
So I am stuck. Either put her back together with the original assembly without the gears like she was and hope I don't break the crankshaft or keep searching. I have one other plan that requires buying the gears and trying to find the shaft and bushings to put them in the old assembly bracket.
I took the replacement assembly to the machine shop and discovered the replacement assembly was also about 1/16th of an inch longer than the old one so drilling new holes is also not an option.
I have been racking my brain and searching/calling everywhere trying to get this issue figured out today. Not sure yet how I am going to proceed.
Keep Prepping Everyone!!!!!!
