Unfunded Liabilities and You

Yep the government has been putting the screws down this year haven't they? Massive tax hikes and not even one day after the big pay off and the articles on the injustice of it all abound.

86Million Full Time Private Sector Workers Sustain 148 Million Benefit Takers

Which in my opinion is just the tip of the iceberg but it gets the story across.

People we are in a collapse right here and right now. We have been stuck in the worst possible stage of the overall collapse for over five years now. The most dangerous and hardest stage of survival is right here and right now at least for those on the 86 Million side of the article link above.

Not only our we dealing with a constant flow of lies about the numbers but increased taxes and fees that will simply grind us down using valuable resources we need to survive the next stage of the collapse before they can even be put to use.

The screws are being turned down tight and yet what do we see? The unfunded liabilities continue to grow. My own State of Missouri fell another 3.4% as now sits in the lower 70's bracket. Many states are much worse off and it's only going to get worse as these projections are still being figured at a laughable 8% rate of return.

As predicted we are also seeing talks of Federal Bail outs for Detroit...

Obama, Michigan in Talks to Free up $100M to Aid Detroit Pension Deal

In a sense this country is now eating it's seed corn to survive. That is what I mean by this being the most dangerous time of the collapse. For us self sufficient types getting by day to day using only our own abilities is the easy part compared to dealing with the constant looting to pay the way for the pampered few.

Having the skills to grow your own food, repair your own tools or whatever is NOT the hardest part of survival. The hardest part is managing to keep those tools and grow that food in a way that it is not confiscated from you to pay for those who don't.

The looting phase of this collapse is still going strong and finally moving down the economic ladder far enough that more people are feeling the pinch.

As I have said many times this is the stage that will be the most challenging part to survive. Those who are in the best position for survival are the most juicy targets for a dying government.

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!

  1. I'd say that's true. The downward spiral is accelerating. If you have something, and the government wants it, they will take it. Doesn't matter what the constitution says because the elites running the country as a private fiefdom simply create an enabling law for themselves. If they can't get enough Senators and Representatives on board, they just do it by executive order.

    1. Harry - Ya we passed bothering with anything Constitutional a long time ago. They use whatever they can to get enough so called voters supporting them and then take what they want. Mob rule...

  2. Yep; what you (and Harry) said. Most folks haven't recognized the coming troubles because the pointy end of the confiscation cycle hasn't pointed at them yet. But it's clear that things can't continue as they have.

    1. RP - It really still boils down to the world reserve currency thing. Once the rest of the world stops trusting US dollars things will change here. Rapidly.

  3. If you've been able to watch the markets the last month, with the constant gyrations up and down, folks up there are finally getting spooked enough to start thinking about the near future. I'm not worried that much anymore about retirements and all that. It simply won't be there for me. I cached out mine a while back and paid off some bills while I could still access it. It's a good subject to maybe help a few more wake up, but honestly if they haven't woke up by now, I think it's too late to do anything except some short term planning.

    1. I would just say this:

Watch out for weekend surprises from the banks.

    2. Matt - In my opinion the only way to survive is to just write off in your own mind what ya think you got coming. There isn't enough wealth in the world to pay off allt he people who think they are owed something and once the US can no longer print all it wants without consequences the truth will be exposed.

Have you heard something about this weekend?

    3. No specifics, but with the economy sliding again, the number of lies coming out about the economy, Russia making overt threats about no longer using petro dollars .....

On Monday they colbered precious metals again to prop up the dollar some more.

They are bailing water faster and faster now.....

All it will take is for some slob on Wall Street to wake up in a really bad mood one morning and decide he's had enough and hit the sell button and start a mass panic..... or he could wake up in Russia and hit the red button. We won't have to worry about the banks closing in this case.

    4. To be clear, nothing about this or any particular weekend. Just this, if you want cash on Fridays don't wait till late in the afternoons.

  4. People talk about a collapse but I am seeing more of a collision which happened in 2008 and a slow sinking where the lower decks get flooded slowly before a plunge to the bottom leaving the wealthy in their life boats and the lower classes fending for themselves.

    1. Sf - Well as it is right now the FED can keep right on printing. We are not in control our future rests with foreign powers who are waiting for the proper time to pull the plug.

Mind boggling to think how far we have fallen.

  6. Worried more and more. Two simple items: The first is that in the last two weeks, gas has spiked upwards of 30 cents a gallon in our locale. The second is last night I stopped to get a few things for the house. Four items: spinach, apples, store brand Greek yogurt, and a gallon of milk. Cost was over $15.00. If people are not screaming now, they soon will be.

  7. Pioneer, I don't know if this is the hardest part yet, but it can wear you down if you can't stay focused. You got to roll with these punches because things don't seem to be getting easier.
