Sunday Readig - General Catch Up

Not much to say this time around as I once again am going to need a few days to catch up on all the stuff that seems to go wrong when I am gone. I already had to wire down one of the small walk in gates as the sheep figured out how to get their heads under it and push it up off the hinges so they could escape into the hay field.

One thing is for certain the grass is now growing once again so this week I need to get the horses moved into their regular pasture.

When I got home from work yesterday I discovered I have a new rusted out old hulk hidden behind my shop. She's a real beauty if you are in to this type of thing and can see the potential in it.

A 1963 Chevy pickup. No engine or transmission but the body is not very rusted out and the front and rear windows are intact.

No it's not mine. I certainly do not have the time for another project and I wouldn't buy an old hulk to have it sit around even if it is mostly hidden from wandering eyes.  This is my brother's next project and he has to hide it out here because of his wife who told him no. As you ladies can guess I am all for Men rebelling against female oppression and so he brought it here.

In case you are thinking that nothing will ever get done with this old girl here is a picture of my brother's last project that he finished up this Winter.

Apparently he has somewhat different plans for this old truck though and isn't going to put an original engine back into her but will modernize her a bit. Whatever his plans are they start with taking her down to the bare frame when it warms up I guess.

The downside? I already had one local guy stop and ask me what I was going to do with it. I guess it isn't as hidden as I thought it was.

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!!!

  1. It is hard to hide a truck like that, may as well be blaze orange with flags on it as people like me can spot rust a mile away. Grass is growing here to.

    1. Sf - I actually had enough grass growth today to pull some up for the ram while I was working on the fence. It makes him much happier when I come around and feed him treats like that during the day.

  2. Looks liek a good project and I lvoe the hiding things from the wife. Reminds me of that great phrase "My greatest fear is that if I'm gone then my wife might sell my tools for what I told her I paid for them!"

    1. Kev - LOL funny how no one mentions the tyranny of the matriarchy and how it effects us men these days :)

My sister in law doesn't really like me much anyway so I am always happy to help the brother out with stuff like this :)

  3. This is completely off subject. I just finished reading "One Year after" By William R. Forstchen. I would highly recommend it to all your readers. Some of it is sort of graphic and made my eyes water.

    1. Carl - It's a good story. I think I might have did a book review on it not too long ago as I just read it here recently myself.

One of my big complaints about post collapse type novels is they go from survival to nukes way to fast for my taste though.

  4. Preppy, you and I are having the same issue: Time. It is already almost the middle of March and I have not accomplished half the things I intended to.

I was castigating myself for not planting this weekend but sounds like we are in for a week of rain. Soil should be good and workable after that.

  5. It's always a good thing when the grass starts growing again if you have horses!

  6. PP,

Nice car......your brother did a great job.
No you haven't hid that truck well enough if someone's asking about it. The grass is starting to grow, and turn green here too. Makes for great food for the critters.
