Finished with the Fence

Using the trusty 8N this afternoon I put the bale spike on her and transported the first roll of woven wire out to the fence row.

I was lucky and managed to guess within about 2 foot that the roll still had about 150 foot left on it. Had I come up short it would have presented some real pain in the butt issues.

I use the bale spike to carry the roll of wire out and then unroll the wire like a long sheet off the elevated spike. Thus has been the easiest way I have found to handle especially the full 330 foot rolls.

Then I drop the roll and use the 8N to stretch the section out. Using a chain off the front bumper

and an old t-post. I managed to only move one wooden corner post a bit out of level this time.

Only thing left to do is set the walk in gate tomorrow and the West pasture is completely enclosed with no more useless electric wire to deal with.

The sheep didn't seem to happy with the new arrangement but they will get over it.

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!!!!!!

  1. Good job, I like to see good fences even though mine are just hanging on it seems. I'm not sure what would happen if the wild rose bushes all died, I would have to build more fence I guess as they are my natural barbed wire in places.

    1. Sf - Oh trust me the fences down in the back of the horse pasture are just rotting and falling apart. No one kept these fences up on this place for decades and it shows. If a repair needed doing it was ethnically engineered out of whatever was laying around. I am hoping at this point the rotten fencing out lasts the old nags so I can just do away with it completely and only spend money on the new sheep pastures.

The wild rose is acting the same way around here in many places :)
