From Dawn to Dusk Plus Some on a Perfect Day

I noticed the first few little white Dutch Clover flowers popping up here this morning and the bees already working them. The perfect opening to a perfect day I must say.

The temperature was perfect for outside manual labor. The wind had finally died down making it just perfect for burning off the last remains of the decades old hay I had cleaned out of the hay loft a few weeks ago. I had just the right amount of gate hanger bolts in my miscellaneous box. I spelled miscellaneous right the first time just now. I got the last two gates hung and balanced on almost the first try (I had to adjust the second one a slight bit). I let the sheep out and took a small break in the shade watching the antics of the new lambs coming out into the world for the first time ever.

It was a complete hysterical riot. The only downside to today was I wished I had some video capture device so I could post video for all my readers. Lambs running here and there playing follow the leader, jumping and bucking and the moms were so happy to be out of the barn after all these weeks some of them even joined in.

The only unhappy creature on the entire farm was the Ram Frazier. He really dislikes having to remain on his dry lot while every other animal get's pasture to graze. I feel for him I really do and I took him some greenery to give him something. He stands there watching all the ewes eating and the lambs playing and can't get through the fence. No wonder Rams get so grumpy as they age.

The ewes already made a sizable dent in the grass that had grown up around the barn. I left most of my implements out there where I park them. I dislike having to mow around them constantly but now I won't have to mow that area ever again!!!

Eventually the implements will be moved down to the shed in the pasture but it will be a few more months until I get the gate system and all the poles cut to get to that stage. Right now I am just happy Stage One of the fence project is complete.

I even managed to get the weed choked garden mowed and it's ready for a good tilling tomorrow.

To top off the perfect day the son and I went to town and on our way back stopped to check the swarm trap I have out about 3 miles down the road. It was full of bees. So I now have swarm number two captured and I moved it down to the hayfield apiary this evening after the sun went down.

The perfect ending to a perfect day. Let's hope this perfect stuff holds out for tomorrow too :)

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!!!

    1. TB - I am actually starting to get a bit worried now. We should not be this dry at the end of April.

  4. PP,
A very perfect day!!! Apparently were suppose to have perfect days through Monday here. Lot's to do in this short period of time. Do you or your son have a cell phone? If so, you can more than likely capture video this way, then download it to your own personal YouTube (movie). This will allow you to upload to your blog.
    Just a thought!!!

It's always fun to watch the new little critters playing around in the field, and messing with the adult critters. Free entertainment :-)
Glad to hear you're moving along with your fence,I bet you'll have it done in no time.

    1. Sandy - My cell phone is so low tech it prolly should have a rotary dial on it. I only use it for calls and have turned down all offers to upgrade it :)

I gotta get out there and start cutting posts. Need to kick start myself this time.
