Death By Logging Truck (Almost)

On my way South late this morning (It was almost noon) I crossed the river at Jefferson City and was heading towards Lebannon, Missouri to pick I-44 and then hit US - 65 to meander my way down into Arkansas.

Coming North on the other side of a concrete barrier this Semi and his load of freshly logged Oak trunks decided to skip the barrier an attempt to crush the brand spankin new F-350 I was suppose to deliver.

Only the actual Semi-Truck managed to skip the median barrier though but he was less than a 100 feet or so in front of me when he did. Not sure how he lost control but he had just come around a really sharp turn and I am guessing his load shifted.

You can't tell from these pictures but the trailer part of the truck is completely bent about 90 degrees from level with the front half.

I got around him as the traffic was going every which direction and it looked like another truck was about to jump the median trying to avoid his dumped load. Went on down the road to the next town and then found a car wash to clean the stains off this guys new truck seat.

I am pretty sure I did a good job and he won't be able to tell.

Keep Prepping Everyone and drive defensibly :)

Update: It appears there was another car that failed to yield during a merge that caused the truck to come over the median.

Failure to yield causes accident

I never saw another car. All I saw was a Semi pulling a trailer full of logs coming over the median at me so I think that is understandable lol.

Glad to hear you're okay and home.
I reminded you to be careful driving on your last post (I just had a feeling).
People drive crazy all the time now.
I bet this guys load shifted like you mentioned.

  4. I wish that guy had lost his load on our hillside, I would have got some good fire wood out of that mess. It was your lucky day for sure as we both know how heavy half of one of those logs weighs.

    1. Sf - I was surprised a car didn't get squished. The ones in front of him got away clean though and the one's behind saw it coming and had already slowed down. If the entire thing had come over the median it would have been very bad though.

    1. kymber - I read they did take one person to the hospital and it must have been the driver of the truck. Honestly I had enough room to get over on the shoulder and was passed the wreck with cars behind me goign every which way I just kept on going. I looked for the news story when I got home. I had a schedule to keep anyway :)
