So Much for the Ferguson "My People" Love Fest Option

It's raining like crazy here this morning and it was raining pretty heavily at times last night but that didn't stop the predictable situation of more looting from taking place in St. Louis nor the dismal failure of the police under the direction of Snuggles Nixon (Missouri Governor) or Captain Ron (My People) Johnson.

About 12:45 or so this morning the police scanner came out with shots fired and a crowd gathered at a local market near the scene of the last several nights of protests. Shortly there after two vehicles in typical blacked out window configuration blocked a road and men with rifles were spotted.

This was while emergency crews were attempting to respond to a fire set at the local Dominoes pizza place. A small pocket of Police did pop some gas and/or smoke and attempt to disperse the crowd but were ordered to stand down.

At this point I switched to the only local live stream video I could find and watched the police line form up in the usual spot being filmed from the rioters side of things by some skinny White kid and his girl friend. While the police kept sending out a message to disperse the rioters danced, threw rocks and insults until the real looting began.

At about 1:15 or so several businesses were broken into. A beauty supply store, the liquor store where the innocent robbing thug took cigars and an electronics store were entered. As several news crews dashed to film the looting many of them were attacked by the looters and told to stay back including the CNN and Al Jezera (sp?) crews. One rioter came by and tried to grab the live stream guy's Female companion but she managed to shake him off and that's about when the liquor store was hit. The would be grabber made a dash for the alcohol.

As the livestream guy pulled away from the beauty supply store a man with a pistol came out and threatened them to get back. Livestreamer guy then went across the street where his car was parked near the liquor store and was violently confronted there and told to leave as well. At that point the remaining journalist and journalist want-to-bes and a couple of stray White people huddled together  near the vandalized bus stop until several self appointed riot control people managed to stop the looting and moved the more violent looters down the road.

More reports of shots fired and then the locals who had managed to get control did begin guarding the businesses that were being looted and stop any more damage in a couple of places from happening. Witnesses reported that this did not stop the looting at the grocery and butcher shop however I could not find a live feed from that particular business.

The entire time this looting was going on the Police line under the not present command of Snuggles and Captain Ron continued to stand out about two blocks away and sing songs while holding hands. Or something.

At that point I couldn't stay up any longer and called it a night but reports I am reading this morning show the police never engaged and allowed the looting and rioting to just peter out on it's own.

Talk about "Camp of the Saints" live for all to see.

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!

  1. I don't understand the cops either. Their job is to protect the citizens and property. This whole mess is just getting worse every day. So far its just in that area. I'm still waiting for it to spread to a wider area of St. Louis, and to other cities. Are the folks in Ferguson the only crazy ones in St. Louis?? Thank the lord for small town America.

    1. Rob - I heard there were several other protests around the country last night and some of them had some problems as well. Maybe it will be the new occupy thing.

  2. Ferguson's always been a hotspot for things such as this, but sounds as if it's escalating. Why am I not surprised?

  3. I don't doubt that the local computer and cell phone stores were looted too. Unless they moved out years ago. Beer, wine, tobacco, and hair straightening products were early casualties. Riots! Kind of like continuing to use the toilet instead of repairing it, even though it's backed up. Makes no sense. Burn your own home & neighborhood, after all, the U.S. gov. will pay you for them.

    1. MV - There was a cell phone place looted the other night and an electronics store looted last night but I didn't have a live feed for that part of the riot zone. I only got to watch the hair place and the market location and heard about the butcher and grocery place and dominoes.

I am interested to see how this curfew is going to work for them now.

  4. I was out of town for a week so I haven't really followed it too closely. It seems like the local police were busier trying to arrest, and or smoke out any reporters than they were fighting crime. Now it sounds like no one is doing anything. I am guessing that Ferguson is not a much of a destination point.

    1. Russ - Glad to see you back, haven't seen much of you lately!!

Anyway the media things was all hype in my opinion. The cops told them to stay out of the area the rioters were in and they refused to listen. I was watching on live stream that night as well and it didn't look to me like the media guys were being targeted specifically but they were inside the AO and got their share of the gas is all. The cops even took down their abandoned equipment and gave it back to the crews which is something you don't hear mentioned.

Now what went on at the MCD's with those reporters I cannot say but the AJ crew was just in the wrong spot at least as it looked to me.
