Another Stage of Collapse - Where's My PIE!!!

This is where it starts to get real folks. Many doom predictors long ago said as a society in decline we would go through various stages as things continued to fall apart. In a long slow slide like we are living in the changes are so gradual at times it is hard to see them without a time elapsed camera. They continue happening none-the-less. These stages also come at different speeds in different locations.

Have you noticed that those blogs that come from areas not inside the beltway or closely connected to some government handout center (Like Colleges) seem to always have a different take on things and observations much more dire than those inside the "protected" areas?

We solidly entered the government money grab some time ago, just because we are entering the next phase doesn't mean the others which came before it stop being a factor. No way. In fact those earlier stages will just continue to get worse as time goes by and will make the next phases more of a problem.

What we are seeing develop now is the inevitable squabbling over the pie.

It has never been my intention to sugar coat anything on this blog and I am not going to start now nor am I going individually start judging anyone's gravy train on this post. Certainly I have my own opinions on what maybe deserved or justified and what isn't but the time for that type of bickering is pretty much over now.

Many things have brought us to this stage of our collapse and each group feels they have a right to whatever was promised to or always given to them. Whether I agree with any specific government payout is irrelevant because for each one there is another group that feels justified in opposing or promoting it.

A Few examples

One may say that welfare for those who do nothing is unjustified while a large portion of those receiving such payments have been told they deserve it because racism and/or sexism has put them in the position they are in and society owes them that payment.

Some may claim that Social Security is not a pension plan and not protected but do you think those individuals who have been promised it and have paid into it all these years care what you think? Do you think they are going to continue to happily work low wage back breaking jobs until 72 while government employees retire at 45 or 50 on pensions? Do you think those who are 45 are going to go happily along with the cut off being set at 46 and above?

Good Luck with that.

I doubt we will see the teachers and other government pensioners take a haircut quietly while welfare payments, disability or even military pensions go untouched.

Should someone in my position be happy taking a huge capital gains tax hit that ultimately effects my retirement while those who rely on pension funds that are (supposedly) financed in the exact same way are given a pass?

I don't think so.

Face the facts people the government owes more money than there is money and printing more doesn't increase the overall amount in value terms one little bit. If your plan is to point a finger at another group while hoping you go by unscathed than your plan is destined for failure.

What is going to make this entire mess even that much more violent is the lack of Constitutional practice and the use if Mob Rule Democracy which does little but promote division and oppression of minority interests.

Regardless of how justified you feel for whatever you have been promised your only hope is to follow the morals of Christianity and the laws of the Constitution and get yourself ready to live self sufficiently. That doesn't mean partially or offsetting the costs while still using whatever check you get each month, it means totally self contained on your own.

Any other plan and you are simply deluding yourself.

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!

  1. I agree a reckoning is coming when the folks that make the country go quit it will be a very fast descent into the abyss.

    1. Steverayv - No doubt. Lately it seems many an old doom sayer is predicting an early 2014 fall. That's more than they have been willing to do in years.

  2. Many of the things that are failing like social security were the first experiments with socialism and the life span of the scheme is reaching it's natural conclusion. It can be no other way, socialism just doesn't work, I don't understand why people are so shocked about the coming collapse. Sure they pay in but they take out more than they paid, that is the guts of the beast.

    1. SF - No doubt, also they just didn't watch what the politicians were doing. I really just don't get it but well what can you say?

  3. Well, if I don't get my social security then I figure it won't matter because for that to happen we would have to be in a total breakdown situation. I'd give up my social security to be free of the blood suckers in D.C.and their alphabet agency types.

    1. Harry - No kidding. While many an old doom crier is saying 2014 now I still think we will manage to hold on until 2016 myself after what I have seen the last few years. The one's in office now don't care how much the pile on those who come after so they will make the thing worse. For you that might mean getting some of your SS payments back though.

  4. I'm pedaling as fast as I can!
It scared the crap out of me when the PTBs threatened to with hold disability and vet checks during the shutdown. What scared me even worse is how so many people were not scared and figured life would go on as normal. Put it on the credit card or float a loan at the bank and eventually the government will cough up the cash.
I'm in good shape compared to even most preppers and have a buffer. I will be working on a few ideas next year to try and get more independent of the PTBs but it takes time to set it up. If folks are not already working those kinds of ideas yet they will be in for a world of hurt.

    1. MASR - I tell ya I wouldn't care how much I worked or expected a paycheck from the government. I could not rest at night knowing my survival depended on a promise. Just not my style and it gets less so the older I get.

You are doing well to move away from that. Having a parachute is never a bad idea.

  5. I agree things are bad but I'd much rather take crap here than in North Korea. I'm one of those people who look for the good and try to figure out how to fix the bad and what I end up with is a headache.

    1. eileen - I sometimes wonder how close to N.Korea some of these progressive Liberals would like to see us go. Especially certain groups of those who make us up.

  6. I am not sure that the compliant middle class is going to break the camels back. Disgruntled military was the key factor in the Arab Spring.

    I guess we will see.

  7. Trying to catch up on blog postings. So many are not paying attention to their day to day needs, (food) that they have no idea what is going on around them. SO many are in a false sense of security that the Govt. will take care of them. They will right to the point of pulling the rug out from under them.

  8. I believe there are government disinformation agents who "cry wolf" to discredit truth tellers, such as by predicting a premature collapse. Like Preppy, I believe 2014 is too soon, unless there is some exogeneous event that works as a trigger. Nonetheless, daily progress in preparing for calamity is a good thing to be doing.
