OK Just Stop Raining Please
All it does now is rain. We never seem to get just the right amount of anything any more. It's either not enough or way too much and let me tell you this is waaaaay too much rain. Everything is now soaked and saturated and yet it just keeps coming down. The fields are flooded and every little nook and low area has become a small pond.
Yet I must say the rivers have not rose out of their banks for the most part yet so that's a good thing.
My tomato seedlings have reached the point that I need to put a stick in their pots to keep them from falling over. I have never had to resort to letting them get so tall and with so much growth while still keeping them potted up. I was not able to get any peas in the ground nor my potatoes planted this year at all although I will go ahead and put the potatoes in if it ever dries out enough to plant them. The peas are a dead issue this year because if I put them in now it will soon turn way too hot for them. Next year I will have the new raised beds in operation to avoid the monsoon season issues all together. It just wasn't in the cards this year.
The new raised bed frames are put together and in place and I managed to get four of the new eight beds filled with old manure and dirt before the rains started but the last four are still waiting. I dredged out the old loafing shed and made one full load trip with the manure and the next day it rained before I could make the second trip. The pile has yet to dry out from early April and the gate opening to get back there has been a lake ever since. The only way I maybe could get to it is if I went down there with the big 4WD massy tractor and a trailer. Maybe. By the looks of that muddy lake entryway I am not sure I wouldn't end up pulling it out as well.
Now that I have completed all the outside stuff I could do under the muddy conditions it might as well be Winter all over again. We are all still stuck inside and irritable to say the least.
The forecast shows four days of warming up and dry conditions after tonight so maybe things will improve. Cabin fever has set in hard today however.
Keep Prepping Everyone!!!
