Lights!!!

Today's project was getting the lights all hooked up and working. It didn't prove to be any less a pain in the behind than any other part of this process. Glad to know the old girl is sticking to her guns about being restored and making us pay for every small inch of progress.

The wiring part went pretty smoothly until we ran out of the proper sized connectors. Then I pulled the lead power wire off the switch connection when I was stripping the insulation off the wire. That set us back about an hour as we had to take the switch back out, re-connect the wire, then get it back into the hole.

After about 5 hours of pounding away at it and bending my forearm in directions it ain't suppose to go all was connected and working properly. As a bonus the old utility light on the back actually works as well so I won't have to replace it.

And yes. I hooked the cigarette lighter up as well :)

It works too.

I have a little magnetic spot light I want to put in the tool box on this tractor and have it for directed light when I want it which is the real reason I wanted the power port/lighter installed.

I am still working on the nose cone as the paint wasn't quite dry from the first coat yet and I marred it all up. It's not sanding off very well so is taking more time. At least one more step is finished now. Next up after I finish the nose cone comes the front grill which isn't quite fitting together properly yet.

I wonder if that will take days and days to figure out as well?

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!!!!

  1. None of my lights work, I am thinking they were 6v and it is converted to 12 now, it will be neat to have your lights working for when you have that last little bit of work to do after sun down. You got a horn on it? You have to have one for parades but then with tractor girls, who needs a horn.

  2. I love tractor horns. They set off a sympathetic bellow from the cows. :)

    1. RP -They also make the sheep panic and run for the barn which believe it or not is kinda entertaining sometimes :)

I see I'm not the only one. And then after you figure out a problem you ask yourself 'How come it took so long?'

    1. JL - Man I don't get it. The mechanic shows make it look so easy too but when I try and do something like that every nut and bolt is rusted solid, nothing fits back right or some essential item like a little rubber boot comes apart and no way to find a replacement.
