Mrs. PP's Wonderful Day of Being in Charge

The lovely wife informed me last night that she had a project for me today so to clear my schedule. I had to postpone my planned activities while she made me go out and prune the fruit trees with her.

She was really excited about this because I told her that deciding which limbs to prune and how to do it was entirely her area. She has been reading and researching, watching videos etc. about pruning the trees for days now but that wasn't what got her all excited. The part she really liked was that she got to walk around and look at the trees while I carried all the various cutting tools and then she got to point and order the cut while I complied and did what she said.

It's amazing how good of a mood that put her in being able to bark orders and having them carried out.

I am convinced most of these sweet Women are really just wannabe tyrants that rarely get their way so when it happens it just makes em all happy and smiles for hours :)

As it turned out she was enjoying it so much she was looking for more orders to give even after we finished with the fruit trees.

Luckily for me work called me in early in the afternoon so I got to escape before things got really out of hand.

At least that's one more Winter project I can now scratch off the list.

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!

  1. I do not know Preppy - I always look for whatever touchpoints I can find with The Ravishing Mrs. TB to get her more involved in things like this. I will happily try grow whatever she would like out of the garden (although alas, tomatoes still escape my ability). I found her yesterday out weeding the back walk. Looked pretty good. I may have convinced her to let me have dwarf citrus tree inside the house (it is on the prep list).

    1. TB - Oh Mrs. PP is on board with planting and the critters more or less. She doesn't really look at them as food or survival as I do but she enjoys them about the same. My biggest issue is keeping her from taking over my food beds for flowers and adopting the sheep as pets :)

    2. Right on then. Mine is more the amused tolerance she shows when I keep trying to put in a garden and get something out of it. One day I am going to surprise her...

  3. Outside really is my domain. My wife will pick fruit and veg when needed but that's as far as it goes. She used to help weeding but since the kids have come along thats gone out of the window!
I need to give my trees a prune, been paid to do someone else's but not done my own yet!

    1. Kev - Ours breaks down like that mostly. Every time the Wife starts in with her "shared housework" spiel I make sure to hand her one of my chainsaws and tell her what time we are leaving. That usually get's the point across for few days anyway. I will occasionally ask her why it is all the indoor housework is shared but all the outdoor stuff is solely my problem but I rarely get an answer.

Still she has her raised beds I built for her so she does do some outside stuff.

  4. Best to let the 'little ladies' think they're in control m'thinks. Lends itself to a more peaceful time :)

    1. JW - That is normally true although I have found you gotta shake things up fairly regularly because if you give in too often you get labeled with the "Kitchen Bitch" brush and from that point on there isn't much you can do to change it. Don't ever let them become 100% sure they will always get their way and they are much happier :)

  5. Mrs SBF and I do pretty good on outdoor projects and even butchered the 4 roosters Saturday but I run when she is inside and gets in a cleaning frenzy as little good can come from being involved with that and the tyrant seems to take hold. If cleanliness is next to godliness then she must get on a jihad.
