Survival/Prepping is Racist

Whether you are a fan of the "Game of Thrones" books or an avid watcher of the series, or not. If you are a homesteader, survivalist, prepper or whatever term you prefer I am pretty sure the three words....

Winter is Coming

instill some profound base emotions deep within your psyche.

Now why do you think that is?

I would be willing to bet that the emotions stirred by those three words are not a learned response for 99% of us who blog and read about the survival/prepper lifestyle. They go much deeper than that and into an area that many might even deny humans have an ability to retain. Instinct. Those three words speak to an instinctual threat written into our very DNA countless thousands of years ago  when life was hard and Winter was truly a danger that consumed our ancestors lives in preparing for it.

Do not get me wrong I am not attempting to imply survivalism or prepping cannot also be a learned skill or response. No, I am simply pointing out what should be obvious to anyone who lives the life. Prepping comes to some of us much more naturally than to others and while we might be only a small part of one group we are still mostly made up of only that one group.

I realize for far too many people discussing an advantageous trait as being more prevalent in White Europeans is a forbidden concept. While it is seemingly alright to claim Asians do better in math and Blacks are better athletes (At least out of water) to even suggest Whites are better at something is heresy and must be shunned.

Whatever. I do not hold to such views. I will call things as I see them and Ice Monkeys have a much greater sense of future time orientation than any other race, which in turn leads to a much greater chance of any suvivalist or preppers will be of European descent.

I am sure there are exceptions. As I said it can be learned and or acknowledged by intelligent observers regardless of instinct. It is also a skill that has not been needed in over 100 years more or less so it is perhaps buried deep in many. That might explain why only a few feel the call to the lifestyle these days without a clear threat looking them in the eyes.

Who knows? But for me that theory explains a lot.

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!

  1. I look forward to winter because it's a cake walk compared to where I'm from which is Minnesota.

    2. I think you missed my point eileen. Winter is the bane of pretty much every race on earth except Whites. Dealing with it and planning for it is hardwired into our ancestral DNA.

Or so I think anyway :)

  2. after this brutal summer, I hope we have a decent winter down here. I have been told a strong season is predicted here this year...so we will see. Last year was so dang mild, that I don't think the kids even wore heavy coats..

  3. PP - i think you have finally put into words something i have always felt (instinct?) about preppers and survivalists. if your ancestors lived in the northern hemisphere, then of course, for thousands of years, winter would have been something to be feared and of course your ancestors would prep! after generations and generations of fearing and prepping for winter, it would get hard-wired into your thinking. and since most of the original settlers in the new world came from europe, they had thousands of years in their ancestry which caused them to know how to prep for winter. and those first few hundred waves of pioneers must have been strong, healthy survivalists. so, i think that for some of us preppers/survivalists - it is in our genes. and it is why some of us are better at it than others.

i used to kind of think that it was a "farming" ancestry that some of us were more instinctive about but i think you nailed it with this post. it isn't just a farming instinct, it's a prepping/survivalist idea that some of our ancestors practiced for thousands of years because of winter. and the original people who were our ancestors and came from europe were caucasian. plain and simple!

    1. The one flaw to my theory however are Ameri-Indians. I really don't know if they prepared for Winter but they must have. Although I guess for many tribes the women did all the work.

Good comment Kymber. Very well said!!!

  5. Yes, I think you are right. I noticed when we were in Siberia that people thought prepping (for Winter and other things) was just living and that if you didn't do this, you were either suicidal or "soft in the head" as they put it.
My ancestors just never had the luxury of not planning for days that were worse than the ones in which they found themselves. Good observation !

    1. Jane - Exactly, and in the US cheap energy has taken so many of us away from the need to prepare for Winter.

It could be the doom of many.

On topic you sure come up with a lot of stop and think postings. My brain hurts lol.

    1. Rob - That's about what I charge and it is pretty cheap. Comes out to around $1.00 for every 3 oz. more or less which is the grocery store price for cheap Chinese stuff as well.

I bet the prices go up some in the Winter though.

    2. PP - just so that you know - we will gladly pay$30 bucks for a 3lb jar of local honey...and from what the local honey farmer guys tell us - so will others. up your price $5 and then up it again. once you have established a full-on client base - they will pay whatever you want!

  8. What strikes me is that the phrase "winter is coming" was strongly associated with schumpeterian depressions and Kondratieff waves before the show, and gaining traction. Now a search on the ohrase won't turn any of that up without a qualifier. In other words unless you knew about it beforehand, you won't be finding out now.

    Best,

  9. Thank you so much for commenting on my blog Viking Bitch. Just was able to upload comments today as I am just getting the blog maintenance thing down.

I am from Canada originally. I live in VA now. I love hot weather, get its interesting how people herd can't deal with a simple rain or a cool breeze. I feel line when it rains or if there is any kind of extreme weather, I can deal. It just called adaptation.

Europeans are masters at adapting. Call it prepping. Call it thinking ahead or call it just working with a situation, Europeans can do it. It is our innate, God given gif

  10. No! It can't be a white trait! Must… push… down… pride… in… white… traits… Other people just don't know any better.

Really, I'm not a Nazi. I just like being warm in winter, just the same as anyone else. Right? Uh oh… Black SUVs pulling up. Really, officers, I wasn't TWW (Thinking While White). Everyone stocks up on firewood. Don't they?

  11. It was just the other day that I thought how most of the work that I do through out the year (now that I live close to the dirt) is devoted to preparing for winter. Cutting firewood, growing and preserving food, cutting hay and putting it up for the animals. You can't download an app to deal with winter!
