Some Signs are Returning
Street beggars and panhandlers have become noticeable along roadways once again. I hadn't seen them on the roadways over the last year or so. They used to be quite common but had faded away in 2012 only to begin making an appearance again this week. This time however I also noticed a couple of women in the mix and I had never seen that before.
Mostly dead department stores. Another thing I noticed a few years ago were stores would be almost devoid of shoppers at times. Certainly not during the main flows but some stores were almost impossible to find a slow period at, at least when looked at from another shopper's perspective. Even early mornings required fairly long waits to get through the check out lines and constant other shoppers being in your way. Something that once again seems to be lessening. I was able to get in and out of a couple of different stores in under 30 minutes the last few weeks and the aisles were almost deserted. I am sure the stores were not happy but it sure did help my blood pressure levels.
Once again I am seeing a number of trucks loaded down with personal belongings who are obviously moving. Something that had reached epic proportions back in 2010 but I haven't noticed much since. I have seen several of them again this week including one today.
Farmer's Market. Another trend I had noticed a few years ago were a large number of farmer's market stalls from people attempting to move their wares and garden produce. There were many of them back in 2009 and 2010 but by 2011 it had went back to almost completely the three die hard auction type resellers. This year however there seems to be another increase in organic growers hitting the market again.
The underground economy is growing once again I think.
Stray animals. As I have written about before the number of strays attempting to move into out barns and outbuildings has never actually died out from 2009 but this year it took a huge leap forward once again. I am also seeing far more dogs wandering around out on the gravel roads when I go check my hives. A sure sign dumping has once again picked up. There were several signs of obvious pet abandonments in town this week as well. A sure sign of economic problems.
The tell tale signs are picking up once again I think. Perhaps another big step down is in the making.
Keep Prepping Everyone!!!!
