Thoughts on the Flow Hive
Heading out for a short work run this morning but instead of my normal tractor time post I thought I would paste up this video from another Bee keeper about the Flow hive so many preppers were excited about.
This guy pretty much covers all the points and questions I had about the new frames, how they work and why I don't feel it is all that much of a revolutionary new process.
Thing is there is no way you are going to be able to just turn the tools and let the honey flow without visually inspecting the entire frame before doing so. How the bees just somehow magically know the capped cells are no longer full is a big question as well.
Anyway this guy covers about everything I have mentioned.
Keep Prepping Everyone!!!!!

PP - i have been reading everything i can about the flow and it is a very polarizing subject. some people think it's the cat's meow while other beekeepers treat the thing as if it was satan himself!!!
ReplyDeletethe beekeepers that don't like it give reasons such as you have to know your hives and work with your hives not just turn on a tap. they also say that the hive is a live singe organism and you must treat it that way.
i must admit that when i first found out about it, i was very excited. but after reading a pile of info from experienced beekeepers...i don't think it's something we'll get when we start keeping hives.
much love! your friend,
kymber
Kymber - Ya I am just not sure it is going to work as well as they keep claiming. We will see I guess.
DeleteIt may work if you live in a hot climate. Otherwise, expect it to drain for days to empty a frame. Another clever idea to make money with. For the manufacturer that is. There are a million bee keeping gimmicks out there and more every day.
