Sunday Reading - Western Collapse Day 872

Not really sure what is going on with my days counter. If you are interested I have been starting with day 1 as the start of the Bribery In Chief BiteMe's time but for some reason my counter  query online seems to be giving me random number changes. Guess that has about as much truth to it as 80 some odd million votes so I expect inaccuracies when dealing with Democrat numbers no matter what subject we happen to be on.

Only thing I can really say about this entire week is conflicting plain and simple. By Thursday panic about every body being broke, Dollar collapse and experts running around with fake dollar machines throwing them into the air seemed to be the norm. Yet by Yesterday the media was talking about a rebound worth celebrating. It hasn't been limited to US news either. On one hand pro=government types are celebrating a Ukrainian counter offensive while on the other it's seems to be a big nothing burger happening type affair consisting of mainly a few wayward arty shells and another finger pointing argument about who blew up a Dam.

Apparently shipping is becoming a big issue once again but with conflicting reports about West Coast ports being closed, labor disputes, drying up canals. Everything but pirates that I can find. Same conflicts with over seas and foreign economies from Egypt and Russia to China and everyone else with some reports of crashes and others of booming numbers.

Closer to the Small-Hold I must admit this has been the quietest weekend in Months I can remember with very light immigrant traffic zooming by on the roads, no building noise nearby at all and believe it or not I was actually able to put gas in the wife's car yesterday at the closest small town station for the first time in almost half a year.

Of course that may all be due to the rain we started getting Saturday morning that kept the city type immigrants at home for a change and even forced me into a home body for the weekend. Been catching up on my sleep as temps dived into the low 60's again. All in all we didn't get that much rain overall as my (I Think) 300 gallon storage tank still hasn't over flowed from the rain water but coming from empty Friday to on the edge today we still got enough to make a difference.

I also went and found a low pressure friendly sprinkler Saturday but when I tested it out it occurred to me that my low water pressure issues maybe more of a time problem as such and it wasn't an accurate test for early Saturday morning. It maybe that the low water issues or more due to my attempting to water on a hot Wednesday evening than a rainy Saturday morning. Hmmmm. Still we got enough rain that with all my mulch I am good for a few weeks plus my struggling seedlings went crazy with the rain and had growth spurts and began really piling on the blooms after just one night of pleasant weather.

The combination of pleasant weather and more time seems to have increased my wildlife pest sighting somewhat though. I discovered a skunk so fat last night it could barely move and more rolled and waddled rather than walked around a couple of Mulberry trees  last evening. I mean it is fat. I also had two encounters with a new raccoon this weekend that is very young.  Varmint control measures may need to go into effect soon but skunks rarely stay around here long and coons that young will be ran off soon I imagine anyway. My chickens have been very easy and accommodating staying inside the fenced in zones without arguments and going to bed before it gets dark even. I think my last remaining red hen needs therapy though unless I can buy her some new friends soon.

It's been almost like the rural life I signed up for 30 years ago around here this weekend for a change again.

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!

  1. Glad things are coming around to normal for you. Why city folk want to move into rural farm areas is beyond me. Me, I would love it, a farm boy thrust into city life just enough right. I would be happier then a clam in a oyster bed...

    1. Cederq - I got a feeling the decision to move out here was more price motivated than anything for most of the new residents. Zilllow shows this are of their housing boom map as being the lowest prices around the country.
