The Girls are in the Asters

Took a walk around the place this morning and noticed the Wild Asters were starting to come in alongside the Goldenrod now. The Bees love these flowers almost as much as they like the Goldenrod. Across the fence in my neighbor's back yard they had put out a wildflower mix and the Mexican Asters are blooming.

I doubt there is ever enough of these domestic Asters around to make them an important variety for honey production but the working girls sure do like em.

  3. PP,

Wild Asters, beautiful flower. How cool would that be to make Wild Aster Honey??

    1. Sandy - I am not sure you could make a monocrop honey off Asters around here. They run with the Goldenrod and would mix too well. It's almost impossible to do a true mono honey in Missouri anyway, too many border areas, overgrown areas and small fields.

  4. I get enough grief on garden issues from my wife. Last thing I need is perfect strangers plopping themselves down in may garden and offering up their opinion. She looks expensive, and that isn't even including the legal fees. No asters for me.
