Greening Up Nicely
The leaves are coming in fast now on all the trees that aren't real hardwoods anyway. The oaks, Walnuts, Hickory, Mulberry and Locust all have buds but no leaves yet. Another few weeks and the Bees will be all over the Honey Locust and Swarms should be starting soon.
I don't think I have ever seen a swarm before the BoxElder trees leaf out so I been using that as my official marker the last few years.
I finished up the Grape run this afternoon. Well actually I have one more step that consists of covering the bed with a few inches of wood chip mulch but the new grape plants are in place. I tell ya grape plants are expensive and much harder to find around here than I anticipated. The only place I saw them for sale was Lowes as a matter of fact.
We also got the Onions, Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes planted today. This is my first time attempting to grow Sweet Potatoes and I am not even sure why I am doing it because I am not all that fond of them but I saw a tray for sale and couldn't resist.
They are predicting rain for the next three days now. Of course that means I know what I am going to be doing on Wednesday now.... You guessed it mowing once again.
We had another ewe pop this afternoon. Another pair of twins, one ram and one ewe this time. I think that brings are total up to 21 now with three more ewes ready to deliver soon. We did have to turn one of the quintuplets into a bottle baby though. His mom just didn't bond with him and wouldn't let him nurse. Only one out of 21 is a pretty good record though.
Keep Prepping Everyone!!!
