Today was a pretty slow kinda day. I got a few new vehicles in that I knew were either not high priority or heading for a remote destination and not eagerly anticipated so I took the day off to stay ahead of mowing and weed control plus a few other areas that have suffered some neglect over the last couple of years.
I began working on reclaiming some planters left here by my mother when she passed away. Got an idea of where I need to place my new immigrant population low pressure sprinklers, cleaned up and moved about 200 pounds of wood chip mulch the wife has now decided to abandon. Just stuff like that I needed to address that I just been too busy to mess with since the Scamdemic and car buying bubble took control of my life. Feels really good to be working around the old homestead once again and I am evaluating doing some work on the small office building I built for my mother a few years before she died. It's just good space going to waste now really.
I got my first paperwork for 2024 vehicles yesterday so I imagine 2023 inventory numbers will be falling soon as factories will be closing down starting in July to retool for next year's models. Don't count on as big a discount as some of these "experts" claim going forward unless it is for the old models now. I am sure there will be lots of deals for left over 23's however. Except Mavericks.
I did see that the Longshore union and PMA are negotiating now mostly I hear because neither side wants the BiteMe regime to get into it. I can understand that we will see if it goes forward and alleviates some of the shipping congestion on the West coast anytime soon.
I also saw where everyone seems excited about Home Depot offering tiny house kits now. I tell ya having basically built a tiny house for my mother and now thinking about working on it myself some I can assure you actually finding the smaller niceties for smaller dwellings is not easy. Oh they are out there just hard to actually find them available if HD is now selling something like this it may make purchasing such small appliances and such much easier.
Plenty of other topics I could have went into today but it got hot here again, pushed my allergies back into the danger zone and I over did it in the heat. I just cannot handle temps much above upper 80's at all anymore for any long stretches.
I did finish mulching over the pumpkin patch and planted a few more new sprouts in small pots too scheduled to go in the ground in July. I plan on waiting as long as I can to actually put em to lessen the Squash bug attacks. Got a few of my watermelon and cucumber plants started climbing and some tomato pruning.
It has been a really bad year for peppers however, especially the habanero types who are looking really puny and sunburned so far.
Just waiting to see what the next shoe to drop will be. Keep Prepping Everyone!!!

deb - I have been looking at those houses since before Elon's hints he was buying Twitter and they seem nice. Trouble is there has always been a huge long wait to even begin waiting for one. Otherwise the prices seem a bit stiff outside the coastal areas to me but they do look nice. My main thought on small houses right now is reduced maintenance for my old age period while retaining all the outbuilding storage I already have.

remember to make remodelled doorways wider to accommodate possible wheelchair
that is why i suggested planting desirable hardwood trees with various maturation dates to provide cash for retirement

deb - good advice to be sure. I am now at a point that although I believed my circumstances were such that I thought I had everything covered for old age I am now not totally sure what the government might do before I am totally finished and that makes me worried.
