A lot of reading and then observation to kinda reinforce what I read has helped.
PioneerPreppyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09269878017447335944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8788289492661192400.post-31220681655391758062016-04-29T19:01:02.054-04:002016-04-29T19:01:02.054-04:00John - I might use some of it rubber banded into a...John - I might use some of it rubber banded into an empty frame and let the bees build off it or I might melt it down. I use melted bees wax to coat the new plastic frames I get asit makes the bees start using it faster.
PioneerPreppyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09269878017447335944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8788289492661192400.post-90546854932056281522016-04-29T18:59:40.869-04:002016-04-29T18:59:40.869-04:00kymber - I usually don't lose but one or two h...kymber - I usually don't lose but one or two hives over Winter. Typically less than 10% so replacing them is easy.
PioneerPreppyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09269878017447335944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8788289492661192400.post-2977834200563117922016-04-29T18:58:58.746-04:002016-04-29T18:58:58.746-04:00Gill - I actually have been toying with the idea o...Gill - I actually have been toying with the idea of selling off a couple of hives this year. Truth is with this fencing project I could use a bit of extra cash and I am really pressed for time too. A bit of an infusion in the one and lessening of the other might be best for me in the long run.
PioneerPreppyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09269878017447335944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8788289492661192400.post-14782513799526857492016-04-29T07:21:28.900-04:002016-04-29T07:21:28.900-04:00There is so much to learn with bees. I know people get hung up about "clean" comb, but destroying comb to get honey , for instance on Warre hives, is destroying the hard work done by the bees. I have several hives with some drawn comb ready for the swarming season. As I have had several people ask if I can sell them some bees so am hoping for a "swarmy" season!Frugal in Derbyshire https://www.blogger.com/profile/10221169113482164565noreply@blogger.com
