A (Really) Quick Update

Mrs. PP is recovering much much faster than anyone predicted. To be honest the picture that the doctors painted for me the morning after the surgery were that when I returned to the hospital after getting the few absolutely necessary chores finished I would find something like the movie "Forest Gump" until the wife recuperated a bit more.

What I found that evening was not "Forest Gump" but a combination of Linda Blair's character from "The Exorcist" and that movie with Tom Cruise who had the autistic brother played by Dustin Hoffman. "Rain Man" I think it was.

There was even green bile on her hospital gown.

Once the drugs had worked their way out of her system though my dear dear Wife began to emerge once again and as of this morning she had actually started physical therapy almost a full week earlier than the doctors predicted.

For those who are asking Mrs. PP had a brain aneurism and needed immediate surgery on the blood vessel that had a bulge in it. I am spending the night with her in the hospital and coming home about 10 AM each day to get the immediate chores done that must be done and then returning in the mid Afternoon to the hospital. How long this will be going on I do not know but I am counting on at least another two weeks of it.

Some things will fall by the wayside of course as I will have to abandon parts of the raised beds, garden, fence project and some bee hive shuffling but that's the way it goes. Some things are going to have to take care of themselves or just go feral for a bit. For now I need to take on both my normal mandatory duties and her's as well although my son and mother are helping greatly too. It's amazing how the reduction of one member of a family, even temporarily, can effect the total.

I will continue posts as I can but it may be some time between them and before I get a lot of preppy content posts back up again. Right now I am in simple damage minimization mode and focused more on getting my Wife back up to 100%.

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes they have helped enormously and I am sure Mrs. PP will be back to gardening and dragging home stray animals very soon.

Keep Prepping Everyone!!!!!

  2. Glad to hear things are going good, you guys kept popping in my head while working out side today, you know how you can work on one thing and think about something totally different. You would have laughed at me as upon opening an old metal gate at one point a wasp flew out of a hole and made the proverbial "bee line" toward me in attack mode but luckily I had my gloves on and just grabbed it in front of my face and made a fist which did the wasp in. My cat-like kung fu reflexes I guess.

  6. Prayers going out to you and Mrs. PP. Sounds like you guys have a long road ahead of you. It is good that you are able to be by her side now and not be totally obliged to a job. It is good that you have help at home. We thought we were prepared for what ever life would throw at us when our house caught on fire last November, and we were because we have good insurance. Things are slowly rebuilding. It was heart breaking to see all of our home canned food and other provisions thrown into a dumpster (actually 2 dumpsters full of stuff) but we were prepared even though it does not feel like it. Looks like you are prepared for this too PP, even though I bet it does not feel like it. I will continue to pray for you and yours.

  18. Hello Pioneer Preppy, I am Sunnybrook's wife and wanted to add my well-wishes to those above! It's a shame you are not closer to us because I think you and Sunnybrook are two peas in a pod! I'm so sorry to hear about your wife and am glad she is doing so well. Please give her our good wishes and try not to run yourself down - that's so easy to do! Take care!

  19. So glad the wife is doing so well. We will continue to keep her in our prayers. I know it takes a toll on you also but she'll be home soon and you can then release your tensions so both of you will be back to normal.
